Back to Social Issues contents page The World Mission and Development Group includes representatives from the major mission and development agencies and people from parishes and deaneries. It seeks to help parishes make an awareness of the world Church a natural part of their thinking and world development a natural part of mission. The Group is planning Area workshops but is always glad to respond to particular requests for training, information, advice or presentations.

The
Link between the Diocese of Southwark and three of the four Anglican
dioceses in Zimbabwe began informally in 1991. Since then the Link has
grown stronger through regular prayer, the sharing of gifts and
resources, and visits in both directions by bishops, diocesan
advisers, clergy, adults and young people from parishes. As well as
the growth of many personal friendships, one of the chief benefits to
us has been the enlargement of our understanding of what it is to be
the Church. Alongside our experience of Anglicanism in England, many
in this diocese now have some insight into what it means to be a
Christian in a very different political and economic context. That
insight challenges us, widens our horizons, renews our sense of
mission and informs our prayer.
