from the Very Revd Colin Slee - Dean For over a thousand years people have worshipped God on the site of the present Cathedral. It is the oldest cathedral church building in London. We are working to ensure that we have the most appropriate facilities to enable this to continue for another thousand years and to give to those who know little of the Christian faith an insight into all that we do. Many thousands of people pass by the Cathedral each day - most of them on their way to work in the City of London. We are sited in the most exciting and redeveloping part of London close to Shakespeare's Globe, the Tate Modern and the Millennium Footbridge and up the river from the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. People are coming into the Cathedral in increasing numbers to discover for themselves the treasures contained in this hidden gem. Yet at the same time we are working to maintain a place of quiet and of spirituality, an oasis of calm in the midst of a vibrant city. On these pages you will find details of all our work, of the forthcoming services and special events as well as a virtual tour of the building. I encourage you to come and visit us and can assure you of a very warm welcome. With best wishes Colin Slee |
