Fairtrade markThe Diocese is delighted to announce that in Fairtrade Fortnight 2008 the Diocese was awarded Fairtrade status.

This is a significant achievement and we would like to thank all those churches that returned pledge form. To see the list of churches that signed up to the campaign click here.

Whilst we have reached the target of 50% of churches signed up to initiative we have yet to reach our Diocesan target of 60% signed up – so it is not too late to join in. Pledge forms can be downloaded here.

There are other downloadable supporting documents, including an explanation of the campaign and a sample PCC resolution which can be downloaded at the end of this page

A Potted History of the Campaign
In March 2005 Diocesan Synod agrees to work towards becoming a Fairtrade Diocese. A Fairtrade Working Group was formed as a sub-group of the Social Responsibility & Regeneration Working Group to carry this forward.
The Working Group has collated the Pledge forms received from churches and kept the wider Diocese informed about the progress of the campaign by a series of mailings to clergy.
Now we have achieved Fairtrade status the Group, as well as continuing to collate any further pledge forms will be continuing to promote Fairtrade within the Diocese, as well as encouraging churches to continually consider their commitment to Fairtrade.
