The church was built after the demolition of the existing Victorian building. Some residential accommodation was also built on part of the site.

The main structure of the building is in laminated timber with reinforced concrete columns. The external walling is cavity brickwork and blockwork, with LBC ‘Cotswold’ facings. It was designed to a carefully worked out brief, and the volume provides a permanently seated ‘church’ area and a large hall area, these main spaces being divided by a ‘buffer’ area which allows for either the church or hail to be extended or for all three spaces to be used as a single volume. The entrance to the building is from Coombe Lane and on this side there are the kitchens, lavatories and vestries.
