The Clergy Leadership Development Programme

The Clergy Leadership Development Programme (CLDP) is based on material developed through The Leadership Institute and has been supported by the Foundation for Church Leadership.

CLDP is a residential and coached programme developing clergy as leaders. It runs over two years. There are usually eighteen people on a programme. Participants commit to the programme initially for two years, with an additional three years of differently focused work. Each programme consists of two three-day residential stays at Wychcroft in each of the first two years, making four residential teaching sets in all. Between residential meetings in the first two years, clergy meet in groups of six with a lay coach to reflect on and deepen their learning in the residential meetings. The programme is led by Diocesan and other facilitators. Subjects considered in the first two years include:

  • The Way of Benedict
  • Obedient Listening
  • How adults learn
  • Team building and dynamics

In the second and third years, participants come together for two 24hour led study residential and in the final year for one three day residential. All residentials happen at Wychcroft House.

Participation is at the invitation of the area bishop. Those wishing to know more should contact us here. Current participants should click here (password required) for relevant information.
