Initial Ministerial Education 4-7 (IME) in the Diocese of Southwark

Curates ordained in the Diocese of Southwark are required to undertake an accredited programme of initial ministerial education as part of their training in their title curacy.

The programme is accredited by Canterbury Christ Church University and taught by clergy of the Diocese of Southwark and others. IME days are the second Thursday of the month from October to July unless changed in advance e.g. due to the date of Easter. Attendance requirements are:

• ten full days (stipendiary curates) annually
• ten half days (honorary curates) annually
• Four additional Saturday sessions (first year; one in subsequent years)
• One two-night residential (second year onwards only)
