Loving
Lord
We thank you for your love so freely given to us all.
We pray for families around the world.
Bless the work of the Mothers' Union
as we seek to share your love
through the encouragement, strengthening
and support of marriage and family life.
Empowered by your Spirit,
may we be united in prayer and worship,
and, in love and service, reach out
as your hands across the world.
In Jesus' name.
Amen

“The
Mothers’ Union has over 3.6 million members in 78 countries around
the world. It was founded in England in 1876 by Mary Sumner and
rapidly spread throughout the UK and abroad. In Southwark, our
members volunteer and pray for a variety of projects that reflect
our Aim and Objects. We also raise funds for our worldwide
projects.”
Mission Statement
The Mothers' Union is a Christian organisation which
promotes the well-being of families world-wide.
We achieve this by:
-
developing prayer and spiritual growth in families;
-
studying and reflecting on family life and marriage and its
place in society;
-
resourcing our members to take practical action to improve
conditions for families, both nationally and in communities in which they live.
Aim and Objects
The Aim of the Mothers' Union is the
advancement of the Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life.
The Objects of the Mothers' Union are:
-
To uphold Christ's teaching on the nature of marriage and to
promote its wider understanding;
-
To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith
and life of the Church;
-
To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians, united in
prayer, worship and service;
-
To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family
life and the protection of children;
-
To help those whose family life has met with adversity.
