Diocese of Butere

The Diocese of Butere, in Western Kenya, is about 6 years old and the MU in Butere has been linked to Southwark MU for two years. There are 1724 members in 103 branches.

There is no industry and very little employment. The Mothers' Union has started a sewing school for sewing clothes and clergy vestments.

Second wives are still taken in parts of Kenya and this contributes to the spread of AIDS. There is no doctor in the Diocese but there are three clinics.
