Wave of Prayer
Members worldwide are united in prayer every day by the 'Wave of Prayer'. Members pray for their fellow members in dioceses around the world. A calendar of the dioceses which are being prayed for each day can be found on the Mothers' Union website here.
At midday, members often stop to pray for their fellow members around the world. The following prayer can be used:
Jesus, Lord of life,
by the power of your word
and through your actions of love,
call us to be your disciples.
give us the strength to be different,
to stand up for justice and peace
and be signs of your reconciling love for all.
God of grace, enable your servants to carry out
your mission on earth through the work of the
Mothers' Union worldwide. Today we pray for
the people and work of :*
We pray for all our members. May God be with
them is every part of their lives, encouraging
and leading them, sheltering and strengthening
them so they may work to your praise and glory.
Faithful and loving God,
who called Mary Sumner to work
for the renewal of family life:
inspire us to follow her example
and respond to your call to new adventures,
new possibilities and new visions for the work
of the Mothers’ Union around the world.
May we always see the world through
the eyes of Christ,
speak to those we meet with the words of Christ,
and take with us on our journey the peace of Christ.

Please pray with urgency for the “four Ps” as we have been bid by Canon Andrew White and in accordance with Archbishop Justin Welby who exhorts us at this time to “cry to God and beat down the doors of Heaven in our prayers”.
Some of the information re Iraq came from the MU website which has been quite timely in the current situation. The 4 Ps, prayer points, are from Canon Andrew White’s website.
For your information, Premier Christian Radio, has been having two minutes of prayer for Iraq at 12:30 every day. You may wish to tune in.

Wave of Prayer week
Each diocese is assigned a few consecutive days of the year when they remember and pray for members in linked dioceses. In Southwark, we are linked with the Dioceses of Harare in Zimbabwe, Machakos in Kenya, Ogori-Magongo in Nigeria, Ekiti in Nigeria and Phulbani in India. We also remember our Church Diocesan links with Zimbabwe where there are many Mothers' Union members.
Our Wave of Prayer days in 2015 are 31 August - 2nd September.
