Note: Today, the title of Minster is an honorific one given to an important civic church. They are generally located in cities or metropolitan boroughs with a population of around a quarter of a million and are traditionally the place where large civic events are held. They also usually have a historic civic role and have a particular presence in their locality as a focus for mission and civic engagement.
