The Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Rev Tom Butler will ordain eleven new deacons in Southwark Cathedral at 11am on Sunday 28 June 2009. There are two NSM clergy and the rest are full-time stipendiary clergy, and will serve their curacy at the churches shown:

Martin Booth (54) Martin is married with two grown up children. Having worked as a freelance writer in radio and television Martin has developed and commissioned programmes for the BBC and ITV. He has also been religious specialist for both the ITC and then Ofcom. He has an MA in Medieval History from King's College, London.
Wimbledon Team Ministry  

Andy Byfield (32) Andy, who was born in Northamptonshire, is married with three children, the youngest of whom was born earlier this year. Having studied Chemistry at Oxford Andy went on to teach and coach sports at a boarding school.He enjoys cricket, golf and skiing.

James Fletcher (30) James spent the first few years of his life in Kent but went to school in Derbyshire.Following university he has lived in Oxford, Cambridge and Dagenham.He enjoys playing sport, especially football, rugby, cricket and golf and watches it when he is not playing it!He also likes to read and go to the cinema.
Tooting Graveney, St Nicholas

Linda Fletcher (37) Linda was born in Farnborough, Hampshire. Following university she worked at Friends of the Earth before re-training in Human Resources.She enjoys having a glass of wine with friends and keeping up with popular "culture" - by watching reality TV and reading OK!.As a special treat she loves to visit a spa.
Coulsdon, St John the Evangelist  

Tim Goode (40) Tim trained as a teacher of music and religious studies having studied composition and performance. He taught for sixteen years and for the last twelve of those years was Director of Music at Homefield Preparatory School in Sutton.He is married. He plays the piano and the accordion and enjoys attending concerts and operas as well as going to the theatre and cinema.
Croydon St John the Baptist  

Helen Hancock (46) Helen was brought up in Dulwich, studied Law at Cambridge and now works locally as a part time in-house lawyer for an international computer distribution company. She will continue to do this after ordination.She is married and has teenage children - a son and twin daughters. Her 'free' time is occupied by her family, friends and eating chocolate, off-setting the latter by running, cycling and swimming.
New Malden, Christ Church  

Roxanne Hunte (49) Roxanne was born in Georgetown, Guyana.She worked as a Financial Accountant in the Engineering and Banking industries there and also spent four years at the Gama Filho University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.She is a widow.She loves dancing, reading and engaging with people from varying cultural backgrounds; and is interested in fine wines.
Newington, St Mary  

Heidi Huntley (37) Heidi was born in Bromley but from the age of two was raised in Dorset.She came to London to start training as a nurse at St. Bartholomew's hospital. She qualified as a children's nurse seven years later and worked at Great Ormond Street hospital from 2001 until she started her theological training. Her favourite pastimes are walking (especially along the Cornish coast), going to the theatre and exploring London.

David Longe (33) David was born and raised in Suffolk.He read Divinity at Edinburgh University and Law at The City University.Before he began training for ordination he worked as a lawyer in London, first in criminal defence, and then representing those seeking asylum in the United Kingdom.He is married to a professional violinist and enjoys exploring London, listening to his wife's concerts, and escaping into the countryside.
North Lambeth Team Ministry  

Carolyn Lucas (47) Carolyn was born and spent her early life in Peru where her parents were missionaries.As a result she speaks fluent Spanish and is very interested in South American news.She is married and has three teenage daughters. She is a health visitor within the borough of Kingston working mainly with families and younger children.In her spare time she enjoys reading, cooking, film and walking the dog
New Malden and Coombe, Christ Church & St John

Imogen Nay (30) Imogen was born in Leicester but grew up in Hadleigh, Essex. She is married and is interested in the arts, especially poetry and has a B.A. and M.A. in related fields. She is passionate about social justice and has spent time delivering services for homeless and vulnerable women in central London.

Katherine Seagrave (28) Katherine was brought up in Farnborough, Hampshire and studied Modern Languages at university. She loves to travel (the more unusual the destination the better!), go diving, dancing, and has a keen interest in fashion design.
Balham Hill, The Ascension  

Jane Yeadon (30) Being born in Manchester and raised in West Yorkshire, Lagos and Hong Kong means that Jane is a South Londoner by adoption having moved there at nineteen to study at University. After completing a degree in Archaeology she trained as a Librarian and worked in several university, medical and law libraries in London. Like most librarians she loves to read but has also appreciates good films, good wine and travelling to unusual places, though not necessarily all at the same time.

At Kingston Hill, St Paul

Adam Boulter (38) was brought up in Northamptonshire and Bedford, where he attended the local Quaker school, before studying art in London and Bath. On leaving art college Adam moved to London where he lived and worked as an artist. Living as an artist usually involves having a day job and Adam was the youth worker in a South London church and also organised inter-faith dialogue projects using the arts.

Louise Codrington-Marshall (46) Before training for ordination Louise worked as an administrator for Deptford, St Nicholas & St Luke. She enjoys reading, music and sailing.
Mortlake w East Sheen Team Ministry  

Sylvester Liyanage (31) Sylvester was born in Sri Lanka and has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Prior to training for ordination he was a Youth Minister in the Oxygen Youth Project in Kingston. Sylvester is married and he plays piano and saxophone.

Elizabeth Chevill (44) Elizabeth grew up in London. She studied music and holds a Masters and Doctorate in Historical Musicology. She trained and practised as a teacher until 2003, when she was admitted to Oxford University to study for an MSt in Biblical Interpretation and then a research degree in New Testament Studies. Elizabeth's interests include practical music-making, hill walking, swimming, reading and travel.
Blackheath, St John

Nick Davies (42) was born and raised in Surrey. He read Biblical Studies at Sheffield University and Systematic Theology at Edinburgh University. Before ordination, Nick worked in the voluntary sector, including Christian Aid and Save the Children, for whom he spent nine months in Africa working with Rwandan refugees. Latterly, he was Communications and Fundraising Director for the Shaftesbury Society. Nick is married and his interests include photography, bird-watching, walking and travel.
South Dulwich, St Stephen  

Jeremy Fraser (51) Before ordination Jeremy was a director of a PR company but before that he was a full-time politician. He was leader of Southwark Council and once stood for parliament against Simon Hughes. He is married with two children and while they were small he gave up work to be a house-husband. Jeremy has had a passion for the inner-city throughout his varied career.
East Greenwich Team Ministry.  

Sally Horner (41) Sally was brought up in Cornwall.Her background is in theatre and music. Before training for ordination Sally worked as a storyteller in primary schools and taught singing. Sally has a love for the countryside and the coast. She enjoys theatre, film, dancing, walking and music.

Dave Bull (37) Dave grew up in Worcestershire but has spent most of his life since school living in London & Oxford. He is married to Helen and they have two young children. Dave loves sports of all kinds, especially sailing.
Reigate, St Mary Magdalene  

Phillip Johnson (34) Phillip originally trained and worked as an actor and was Artistic Director of a Theatre Company. He qualified as a teacher. Philip is married and admits to a strange love for New Testament Greek - even though he says he is very bad at it.
Cheam Team Ministry  

Bridget Shepherd (33) Before ordination, Bridget spent more than ten years in youth ministry, including working for a church in South East London for five years before starting theological training. She still enjoys the company of young people, now mostly her own two pre-school children. Bridget enjoys shopping, coffee and cake, humour, being creative and being made to think.

Andrew Watson (51) Before ordination Andrew had a career in the construction industry. He began his curacy in an urban area and is now getting different experience in a suburban context.  His passion is to see the Church looking outwards into the communities it is here to serve and connecting with the lives of ordinary people.  Andrew has two grown up children.
