Churches Renew Commitment to Partnerships in Urban Regeneration FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 11 January 2000 Clergy and church workers will be re-assessing what churches have to offer in regeneration of local communities, at a conference at Friends House, Euston Road on Wednesday 19 January. The Rt Hon Hilary Armstrong MP, Minister for Local Government and the Regions, and R David Muir, Executive Director of the Black Christian Civic Forum UK, will be keynote speakers. "Partnerships for the New Millennium - What have the churches to offer?" will explore the range of new partnership opportunities promoted by the Government. It will take a hard look at why the churches should be involved and what their specific contribution should be. It is being organised by the London Churches Group, a forum for church leaders of all denominations across London to address social policy issues. There will be workshops on partnership in health, education, training and employment, housing, local regeneration, enterprise, community safety, and care. The conference will also be the occasion for the launch of STREET CREDO - churches in the community, a new collection of essays by clergy and church workers engaged in a wide variety of disciplines and services.
