The Rt Rev Tom Butler, Bishop of Southwark and Deputy Assistant Commissioner John Grieve, head of the Metropolitan Police Violent Crime Task Force, will host a conference for police officers in South London on "Building Bridges with the Community". A key speaker will be Matthew Baggott, Assistant Chief Constable of the West Midlands Police, who was one of the senior officers in Peckham at the time of the Stephen Lawrence murder, and who headed the team which assisted the public inquiry and considered the implications for the police service. The event is open to Christian police officers in South London plus invited members of the community.
