Over 100 retired clergy are expected at a service arranged especially for them in Southwark Cathedral on Wednesday 24 May. The Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Rev Tom Butler, will preside and preach, and will have lunch with the clergy afterwards.

This is part of the Diocese of Southwark's programme of support for retired clergy and those approaching retirement. Another event was a pre-retirement conference held at Wychcroft residential centre in Surrey on 15 May. This was over-booked, with nearly 50 participants, and a further conference is planned for next year.

A handbook for retiring and retired clergy will soon be issued to all clergy, active and retired, in Southwark Diocese.
