The Christ Church garden has won an award from the Metropolitan Public Gardens Association who see the garden as a major amenity serving local residents and employees. The refurbishment has been sponsored by Sainsbury's plc whose head office is in the parish, and by interested gardening groups, as well as Southwark Council's Regeneration Department.

The Rector, the Rev John Paxton, says: "I look forward to the visit of the new Mayor of Southwark for this historic opening. The garden is intended to be an oasis of greenery and relaxation for the local community, and I hope a lot of people will come and join in the fun on 16 June."
