The Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Rev Tom Butler, assisted by his three area bishops, will ordain 25 new deacons at Southwark Cathedral on Sunday 1 October. The Ven Martin Baddeley, Archdeacon of Reigate, will conduct the retreat beforehand and preach at the ordination service.
On Saturday 7 October 17 deacons will be ordained priests - three at St Mark's, Reigate, six at St John the Divine, Kennington, and eight at the Royal Naval Chapel, Greenwich. These are curates who were ordained deacon last year.
