London's Regeneration and Economic Development FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 14 May 2001 Miss Judith Mayhew, a leading figure in the City and Board Member of the London Development Agency (LDA), is to give a lunchtime lecture on the agency's role in the regeneration and economic development of London. She will consider its relationship with the London Boroughs and with the Corporation of London. She will be speaking at Southwark Cathedral on Tuesday, 15 May at 1.00 pm, at the invitation of the South London Industrial Mission (SLIM). From her unique viewpoint Miss Mayhew will reflect on the LDA's role as part of the new government of London, the values underlying its policies, and the impact of its strategy on London's resident and working population. She is expected to focus on housing, education and transport as key areas of development. The Revd John Paxton, Senior Chaplain of SLIM, said: "The London Development Agency is going to have a major impact on the business and working life of London. Judith will be able to offer insights into the way the Church, the voluntary sector and the business community can contribute." The London Development Agency is the economic wing of the Greater London Authority, with elected and appointed members directing inward investment to London, matching people's skills and vacancies, and working with the private, public, community and faith sectors of London.
