Michaelmas Ordinations in Southwark Diocese FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 25 September 2001 Nurses, a chef, an electrical contractor, an architect, several amateur musicians, and a statistician are among 21 people to be ordained deacon by the Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Rev Tom Butler, at Southwark Cathedral at 11.00 am on Sunday 30 September. Five will be stipendiary priests, working in parishes full time, while the others are either non-stipendiary (NSM) or 'ordained local ministers' (OLM). Prebendary Ronald Swan, Master of the Royal Foundation of St Katharine, will conduct the retreat beforehand and preach at the ordination service. On Saturday 6 October, last year's 25 deacons will be ordained priests: 9 at Croydon Parish Church, 11 at The Ascension, Lavender Hill, and 5 at St Paul's, Thamesmead.
