of the war on terror September 11 Commemoration at Southwark Cathedral 6 September 2002 Professor Lawrence Freedman CBE, FBA, DPhil, Professor of War Studies at King's College London, will deliver a lecture at Southwark Cathedral as part of its commemoration of 11 September. He will speak on the ethics of the war on terror, including Iraq. The lecture will be at 6.30 pm, after 5.30 Evening Prayer, and will last about 40 minutes, to be followed by questions. The two Eucharists that day, at 8.15 am and 12.45 pm, will be celebrated as Requiems, and the 12.45 service will include hymns. The Dean, the Very Rev Colin Slee, said: “It is our intention that there should be suitable opportunities for people to pray during the day but also that the Cathedral should provide an occasion for some serious reflection and well informed thought. Professor Freedman is an eminent academic of world-renown. We are very privileged that he has agreed to give this lecture. It illustrates once again the close co-operation between the Cathedral and King's College.” All services and the lecture are open to everyone. No tickets are necessary.
