"REBUILDING
SOCIAL CAPITAL - Thursday 22 May 2003 Naomi Kingsley, Chief Executive of the London Rebuilding Society, will speak on "Rebuilding Social Capital - Reinvestment and Regeneration" to an audience drawn from business and church circles in London on Wednesday, 4th June. The occasion is the sixth SLIM (South London Industrial Mission) Lecture, which will be held this year in St Paul's Cathedral Conference Room, starting at 6.00 pm. The Lecture will be chaired by the Ven Christine Hardman, Archdeacon of Lewisham, and is open to all. Ms Kingsley will be reflecting on some of the values underlying the thinking of the London Rebuilding Society (LRS), and comparing them with the values found in other regeneration programmes. Naomi Kingsley describes herself as a dedicated Londoner, and a social entrepreneur. She has worked in economic development, regeneration and community finance for 20 years in the private, public and non-profit sectors. After a year in Chicago as a Harkness Fellow in 1994-95, studying best practice in community finance in the US, Naomi returned to the UK, and set up a successful urban regeneration consultancy company. With New Economics Foundation and others, Naomi formed a partnership in 2000 which gave birth to the London Rebuilding Society, going operational in 2001. LRS is a community development finance institution dedicated to tackling issues of financial and social exclusion and building social capital through encouraging ethical and social enterprise development in London's poorest communities. Ends. For further information contact: Diocesan
