The Bishop of Southwark urges prayer and donations

The next week will be a critical time for meeting the needs of those who have survived the terrible earthquake and tsunami.

I hope that the churches in the Diocese will pray for those affected and that many people will give generously to support the appeals of the aid agencies.

Creator God,
Our hearts cry out for those who are affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
We pray for those who are injured and for those who are homeless and disorientated.
We ask for your comfort for them and those whose loved ones have died or are missing.
Grant us generosity of spirit and guide the nations that they may work together to provide aid and relief.

Redeemer God,
Give us all wisdom to live in your world so that it will provide for all.
Help us to care for people wherever they are and share the gifts that you have given to us.
For we are your children and we cry to you.
We ask these things through Christ our Lord.
