MICHAELMAS ORDINATIONS IN

Note: Stipendiary means they receive the equivalent of a salary, NSM means non-stipendiary (i.e. they are unpaid for their work) and OLM means Ordained Local Minister, who are also non-stipendiary but can only serve in their local parish. Susan Lynn Billin, 45, Currently works as the NVQ
Co-ordinator in an independent charitable hospital caring for
people with neuro-disability and comes from Holy Trinity w St
Patrick’s, Wallington. Susan has had a varied occupational history
within nursing and nursing education, including time spent in the
Army Nursing Corps. Married to David, she is a keen cyclist who
also enjoys bird watching, walking and playing music. Louise Boulton, 33, is from St Mary’s, Balham and is an
I.T. Systems Analyst. She is married to Adrian Mudd and has one
son, who was born in June this year. Louise has degrees in both
English Literature and Pastoral Theology. Her interests are
literature, the theatre and gardening. Joy Boyce, 59, is from St Anne’s, Wandsworth, where she
has worshipped since childhood, and for the past 10 years has been
a Reader. She is married to Nicholas and they have three adult
children. Joy is now Head of Corporate Environmental Affairs with
a large company. She enjoys working with young people, reading and
going to the theatre. Iain Farquhar, 59, is married to Helena and they have
three children. Iain trained as a horticulturalist and moved to
London from his native Scotland in 1983 to join Lewisham Council
where is he is currently a highways inspector. Brought up a
Presbyterian, Iain was confirmed into the Anglican church in 1995.
He enjoys gardening and walking. Cynthia Ann Finnerty, 59, has worshipped at St George’s
since leaving college in 1967. As parish musician, she has
directed junior and all-age choirs and encouraged music-making in
the church and community. She has been a primary school teacher
for more than 30 years and currently works in a suburban state
school where she has special responsibility for music. Among her
interests are community drama and she was part of the group
responsible for the Passion Play in Greenwich in 2000. Cynthia is
married to Edward and they have three children. Caroline Groves, 63, has been married to Simon for over
40 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. She is a
trained dancer who gave up dancing professionally just prior to
the birth of her first child. She then worked part-time as a
dancing teaching and as a rehabilitation worker for people with
learning difficulties. She occasionally acts as a Music Festival
Dance Adjudicator. She enjoys giving hospitality to family and
friends, visits to the theatre and cinema and eating out. She and
her husband are keen skiers and visit the ski slopes every year. Erica Longfellow, 30, whose home parish is St Anne’s,
Kew is a Senior Lecturer at Kingston University. She has written
academic articles and a book entitled ‘Women and Religious Writing
in Early Modern England’ which was published by Cambridge
University Press this year. She has subsequently been nominated
for The Times Higher Education Supplement Young Academic Author of
the Year. Her interests include cooking, walking, film & travel. Liz Newman, 47, has worshipped at St Luke Charlton for
25 years. A qualified social worker, Liz has a degree in theology
from Kings College and was licensed as a Reader in 1999. She is
married with three children and enjoys meeting people, cinema,
cooking, football and “trying to keep up with what my children are
into.” Funke Ogbede, 57, is married with two children. Born
and educated in Nigeria, Funke attained a number of qualifications
in education. She has worked in education, as a hospital chaplain,
as a care assistant and is currently a Civil Servant. Funke was
licensed as a Reader in 1996. She is a School Governor who writes
poems and enjoys reading, sewing and experimenting with different
diets. Shirley Rayner, 51, from St Matthew’s, Croydon, is
married with two grown-up children. Her interests are reading,
walking, gardening and dog-walking. William Sharpe, 43, is married to Jennifer and has they
have two sons. He is a caterer and comes from Emmanuel, West
Dulwich. Appropriately he lists cooking among his interests as
well as walking and listening to music. Bennett Spong , 56, was born in South Carolina, USA.
Since settling in Charlton in the early 80s, he, his wife Sally
and their three sons have been members of St Luke’s. Currently a
teacher of technology and Head of Year in a large comprehensive in
East London – where he has taught for 20 years with Sally -
Bennett’s previous experience includes working on offshore oil
rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, on fishing boats in South Carolina and
Alaska and being a riding instructor in Tennessee. He enjoys
family walking holidays, reading, films, sports and art –
designing and making stained glass windows. Carolin Telford ,48, is married to Martin Brown, and
they have two children. Her home parish is All Saints, West
Dulwich. She lists her interests as art, design, gardening,
botanical illustration and reading. Rosemary Webb, 66, is married to Peter and they have
three children and four grandchildren. She has worshipped at St
Matthew’s since 1976. Her interests and hobbies include her
grandchildren, reading, listening to music, crossword puzzles and
human rights issues. Erica Wooff, 38, who comes from St Peter’s, Walworth has
spent her working life involved with the promotion of social
justice and inclusion and she was worked as a consultant in the
Charity sector. Outside working hours, Erica relaxes with her
friends and is interested in creative writing and gardens. Ends. Diocesan
