Introduction to parish
The Church of the Holy Spirit believes in the formation of a Christian identity made possible by our devotion to Jesus Christ in prayer and service. Over recent years we have seen the church become much more a focus of life in this community along the southside of Clapham Common. We especially welcome you to our Sunday Liturgy which follows the best traditions of the Anglican church in sacrament and scripture, with good preaching and a small but growing music programme. We are gifted with many people in our congregation and try to encourage all to take appropriate parts in various aspects of the worship. We are known for our habit of hospitality to the large number of newcomers here in this very mobile part of London and have special provision for families and children.
Study and prayer fellowships have a long standing place in our church as do social events, particularly through our drama group. The Summer Festival is a time when we celebrate the diversity and strengths of this close knit community.
The church has a tradition of pastoral care and outreach to the local neighbourhood and to the world. We have worked with projects in the Congo, through Christian Aid, with our friends of St. John the Evangelist in Boston, USA, and nearer to home with the Notre Dame Estate and Community.

The Church of the Holy Spirit, in a quiet road south east of Clapham Common, was designed in Gothic style. It consists of a nave, chancel and north aisle with the organ chamber over the two vestries at the east end of the latter. A hall has been built against the east end of the church with its own entrance in Hambalt Road. The church is built of brick with stone dressings to the doors and window and steeply pitched tiled roofs.
