Introduction to parish
All Saints' is a lively community church situated off Brixton Hill, between Brixton and Streatham centres. Of our two Sunday services, the smaller 9.00am meeting is spoken, and follows the format of a traditional communion service. The 11.00 celebration is larger, and more like the modern 'Spring Harvest' form of worship. It is also better able to accommodate families with its young peoples group, 'BIF'. Being situated where it is, the congregation reflects the local mix of cultures and backgrounds. Its aim is to reach out to the local community, and see God's will for the area come to be.
Details of Church
Built: 1982
Architect: Richard Watson
Listing: not listed
The church was built to replace a larger Victorian church and church hall. It is designed on an elongated cruciform plan with a glazed lantern above the crossing. The church occupies the upper part of the "cross" to the east and an assembly area and a hall forming its extension to the west. The three spaces are divided from each other by sliding folding glazed screens which can be opened to form one large space. There are two lobbies, cloakrooms, kitchen, and office.
