Gipsy Hill
The church was rebuilt in 1987 after a disastrous fire destroyed the Victorian original leaving the tower fabric largely untouched. The new design based upon a hexagon for maximum flexibility is linked directly to the hall. By this means a great deal of interaction is possible. A warm yellow brick forms a transition between the stone of the tower and dark red brick of the hall. The structure comprised reinforced concrete and timber roof trusses while the main interior is faced with honey coloured blocks and natural wood. The earlier sanctuary and vestry areas now form the hard landscaped forecourt. |
