The Responsibility Is Ours Introduction In most parishes the burden of giving is shouldered by a few. In many cases 10% of the congregation is responsible for between 65% and 90% of the direct giving. A case of: "...so much being owed by so many to so few." Unfortunately the 'many' are usually unaware of this fact. This points to one of the key reason why their levels of giving are so low: IGNORANCE - little or no understanding of their church's finances. If the 'many' are to be motivated to give more, they must be informed and encouraged - and that is what TRIO is all about. TRIO This simple approach is designed to INFORM members of the congregation about the finances of their church and to ENCOURAGE them to become more responsible in their giving, by helping them to recognise that, as far as the maintenance of the work, ministry and mission of their church is concerned... The Responsibility Is Ours Method The main feature is a presentation to which all the congregation is personally invited. Normally it takes place during the main Sunday Service. Approach Facts are presented with the help of an overhead projector or Powerpoint presentation. The emphasis is on affirming what has been achieved, on helping the congregation to value their church and on encouraging them to take responsibility for its house-keeping.
