Youth and Children's Worker Employment Guidelines

This leaflet is a reference and resource point for those who have existing employed youth and children's workers, those who are moving into the process of employing either a youth or children's worker within the parish, or those who have not got to either, but might wish to know what it is all about.

This is the first publication of the Children and Youth Development Group (CYDG) (formerly, Children and Youth Policy Group) Chaired by Rt Rev Nick Baines, Bishop of Croydon who gives the foreword to this document emphasises:

"This pack is designed not to be the final word on employment of a youth (children's) worker, but rather to be the first word."

This document has been compiled by CYDG with the invaluable input of Rev Mark Prentice who formally was a paid youth worker and until recently, curate at Holy Trinity, Tulse Hill. He shares from experiences and observation. This invites us to reflect and ask some key questions to think about building the foundations of good practice in planning, recruiting and retaining, paid youth and children's workers.
