SUSPENSION OF PRESENTATION
Following consultation, and with the consent of the Diocesan
Pastoral Committee (DPC), the Bishop may decide to suspend the
patrons’ right of presentation to a benefice while possibilities
for pastoral reorganisation are explored or new parsonages
constructed. This is carried out within the terms of the
Pastoral Measure 1983 and the diocesan policy on suspensions. In
these cases, a priest-in-charge, rather than an incumbent, is
appointed to a benefice. Also, the patron’s right of
presentation to a benefice may be restricted by the Bishop for
up to one year if he requests the DPC to consider the
possibility of pastoral reorganisation involving that benefice.

restricted benefices at 31 December 2007
