Courses (more details coming soon)

Beyond CME… Southwark Theology meets three times a year (October, February, May) to receive and present papers of theological interest. Details in Noticeboard; all welcome.

Introduction

Unless otherwise stated all courses
1. Are for everyone (but see below)
2. Are free of charge (but see below)
3. Include tea or coffee but not lunch
4. Need you to register for them even if you are still a title curate.

What to do

Contact Sue Hoad at Trinity House at least 7 working days before the training event. Telephone 0207 939 9433; e-mail: sue.hoad@southwark.anglican.org

The minimum and maximum number of people for a course to be viable are given in the descriptions in the booklet (x to y). Numbers are limited, and courses which do not look viable will be cancelled, so early booking is advisable.

Please let Sue Hoad know if you cannot come on a course for which you have registered.

If you are a Christian who is NOT from the Diocese of Southwark, you may register for and attend courses on which there is space and within whose intended ‘target group’ you come, for a fee of:

£20 per session for any part-day course happening in Trinity House, or
£40 per day for any full day course happening in Trinity House, or
£50 per day (plus residential costs if appropriate) for any course happening elsewhere.

ABOUT THE COURSES

The courses consist of sessions. A session is a morning or an afternoon or an evening. A day course is therefore two sessions; a morning, afternoon or evening each one session.

You may do more than the minimum required number of sessions, but for title curates ordained before 2006 the minimums are:

Stipendiary priests (title curacy: 2nd & 3rd year): 8 sessions
NSM/OLM priests (title curacy: 2nd & 3rd year): 4 sessions

You should think carefully about the courses for which you sign up. Ministry is lifelong; you don’t have to do it all this year.

Courses in the following list are compulsory for the following groups:

For 1st year title curates and their incumbents Training curates & training Incumbents (day)
For incumbent-status clergy new to the Diocese Child Protection
Ministering Across Cultures
Obligations and Legalities of Incumbency
For 3rd /4th yr stipendiary title curates Obligations and Legalities of Incumbency
For training incumbents receiving a new curate in 2007 The training incumbents residentials in March 2007 and May 2007 (and the Training curates & training incumbents day)

Other courses have been designed with particular groups of people in mind. These include New Area Deans, those new to incumbency and those seeking a move.
