Ministerial Education 'NOT JUST FOR CURATES'
Training Incumbents
Training and Support for Training Incumbents Being a training incumbent is one of the most significant tasks in today’s Church as it becomes ever more important not only to train new clergy properly to equip them for the ministry to which God has called them, but also to show to the world in which they will minister that they have been adequately trained. Training incumbents themselves need proper support and development as they undertake their part in this task. Those hoping to receive a curate (stipendiary or not) in 2007 should therefore note that there are two required training residentials plus a training day with your curate: Residential 1 - Obligations and legalities and other matters 6th March (from 10 am ) until 7th March (2pm) 2007 Venue: Led by: Numbers: Course intended for: Content of Course: Residential 2 - The training incumbent and the training relationship Monday 21st (from 5pm) to Wednesday 23rd (to 2pm) May 2007 Venue: Led by: Numbers: Course intended for: Content of course: Please note that this residential will
include: Training incumbent supervision Some training incumbents have commented that they would value either a one-to one or a peer group support, with someone with experience of the role of a training incumbent. There is now a group of people with recent experience of training incumbency who are able and willing to offer this to training incumbents. More details of this provision will be provided in the second residential. Day for training incumbents and training curates This is an all-day (10am to 4pm) session at the Salvation Army HQ in Denmark Hill. It is for training incumbents of curates ordained deacon in 2006 and those curates, and follows up work done in Residential II for the incumbent and in the December IME session with the deacon. Attendance is required and more details are sent nearer the time by Sue Hoad at Trinity House. |
