KCL logoAKC Course Administrator
Dean’s Office
King’s College London

The Dean of King’s College London is responsible for ensuring the religious and spiritual purposes for the College are carried out.  He works with a small team comprising the Office Manager for the Dean’s Office & Chaplaincy team, the AKC Programme Director, the AKC Course Administrator, and the Secretary to the Dean’s Office.  Following restructuring of some of these roles, we are recruiting to the post of AKC Course Administrator.

This is an interesting and varied role which involves being responsible for all aspects of the administration of the AKC course under the direction of the Dean and the AKC Programme Director, effectively operating as an autonomous School Office.  The AKC is the College’s original qualification, and is a general academic course in theology, philosophy, beliefs and values, which is open to all students alongside their degrees.  In the academic year 2011/12, 1,400 students followed the course of lectures and 800 students took the end-of-year exam.

You will need excellent secretarial and IT skills and experience of working in administration, ideally in an academic context. You should have experience of maintaining records such as student databases (experience of SITS would be desirable) and of committee administration, and ideally some knowledge of religious affairs. Experience of administering web-based learning would be an advantage.  There will be extensive liaison with a range of people, including high profile external contacts, so excellent interpersonal skills are essential.

For informal enquiries about this role, please contact Dr Clare Carlisle (the AKC Programme Director) on 020 7848 1808 or clare.carlisle@kcl.ac.uk.

Salary will be on grade 5: £28,327 - £32,445 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.

Further details and application packs are available on the College’s website at www.kcl.ac.uk/jobs, or alternatively by emailing Human Resources at recruitmentteam12@kcl.ac.uk. Please quote reference number G5/RUD/400/12-JF in all correspondence.

Closing date for applications: Monday 28 May 2012

Interview date: Thursday 7 June 2012
